Looking into Sommelier Schools

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

So you have learned all you can about wine as an interested hobbyist, probably reading lots of books, going to tastings, and above all, trying a diverse array of wine. If this is still not enough to satiate your thirst for wine knowledge, it might be time to investigate sommelier schools. You will be surprised athe the number of different programs offered at sommelier schools, and will no doubt be able to find one that matches your needs and interests.

Sommelier Certification: Passport to a New Life

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

I know how you feel: This posting was supposed to be glamorous; but there is no glory – you’re trapped in a menial job taking care of retired Hollywood animal-stars, shoveling the poop of Lassie 8 while being pelted with melon-rinds thrown by the orangutan from Dunston Checks In. You long to work in a world where people respect you for your esoteric (but important!) knowledge. It is time to get your sommelier certification. With this credential, you could work at an upscale hotel, counseling the owner about which bottles of wine to stock, all while hobnobbing with human celebrities. The chances of being abused by a great ape, while still present, are far less likely. Yes, sommelier certification is your ticket to a new knowledge, and a new life in the world of wine.

They are present at every gathering or party. They make life irritating for everyone else, trying to inflate their egos by latching on to obscure pieces of wine trivia while looking down their noses at those who were unaware. If you think it would be wonderful to be able to cheerfully hold your own against such pompous characters (even politely correcting their misconceptions), perhaps it is time to go to wine school. This is the best option to glean knowledge about one of the oldest fermented beverages, and whatever your interest level (whether you aspire to be a sommelier or just an informed hobbyist), wine school is the best way to deepen your appreciation of wine.
